It’s fitting that the home of Scotland’s first dedicated building conservation centre is a retrofitted traditional building. The Engine Shed uses traditional materials in a contemporary and energy efficient way.
Join us to explore some of the retrofit measures appropriate for traditional buildings. This means they improve the energy efficiency whilst maintaining their fabric and allowing materials to function as they should. Our experts will share learning on common retrofit options that have been trialled in projects throughout Scotland.
Explore scientific techniques which help us maintain and protect our traditional buildings and historic environment. You can also learn about the traditional skills vital to protecting Scotland’s buildings and monuments.
