Join us for a special screening of The Antonine Wall: A 37 Mile Landmark, directed by Liam Anderstrem as part of the Central Scotland Documentary Film Festival, in partnership with The Macrobert Arts Centre.
Inspired by the 1950's Antonine Wall film by Professor Anne Robertson, The Antonine Wall: a 37-Mile Landmark takes us on a journey along the World Heritage site. On the way, discover the diversity of the landscape and people living along the former frontier of the Roman Empire. The film captures a valuable record of Scotland’s largest Roman monument, but also a remarkable snapshot of life in Central Scotland in both the 1950s and in 2022.
From 5pm, join us for a drinks reception with opportunity to explore The Engine Shed, Scotland’s Building Conservation Centre. Discover what's inside and learn about the history of the Engine Shed and about the traditional skills vital to protecting Scotland’s buildings and monuments. You can also experience the digital resources we use to look after our historic environment, including a giant 3D printer, a Digital Imaging Lab and ‘The Howff’ our cutting-edge immersive hub.
There will be a post-screening discussion following the film.
This event is part of the Macrobert Arts Centre 'You Choose: Pay What You Can' pricing structure. This new way of pricing cinema tickets asks people to make the choice about what they can afford to pay for tickets, with three options available - £4.50, £6.50 and £8.50. This pricing structure will be in place for the screening at the Engine Shed.
