The 18th and 19th centuries saw a boom in the amount of people taking part in tours of Scotland and writing about their experiences. In this talk we will retrace the footsteps of these early tourists by using images from HES Archives, and the words of historical travellers such as Dorothy Wordsworth, James Boswell, and others. After the talk visitors to John Sinclair House will be able to view archive material and books related to the subject.
This talk will take place in-person at John Sinclair House and online (via Zoom). Attendees must contact archives@hes.scot to book their spot.
