Doors Open Day at Clackmannan Tower

A chance to enjoy a tour of the interior of the 14th Century Clackmannan Tower

Join us for guided tours of the historic 14th Century Clackmannan Tower, home to descendants of King Robert the Bruce and visited by the likes of Robert Burns. Enjoy a tour of the interior and the spectacular views of Clackmannashire and the Forth Valley from its rooftop.

The second part of the tour, that enables access into the tower, is not suitable for individuals with limited mobility or very young children.

Tours are free, however are timed and must be booked in advance.

Tours last approximately 45 minutes.

Tour times: 10am, 11am, 12 noon, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Please arrive 5mins before tour starts.

  • Parking is on a residential street only and is some distance from the tower.
  • Owing to low lintels, uneven flooring and spiral staircases, the second part of the tour, that enables access into the tower, is not suitable for individuals with limited mobility or very young children.
  • Sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing are essential, as in addition to the above, access is via a field and part of the tour is outdoors.
  • Although the tower will be swept during the week leading up to the event, birds within the tower will leave guano, therefore masks are recommended.
  • There are no toilets at the property, however the Bruce Lounge will be available, opening on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.
  • Before travelling please Check for unexpected closures on our website (in case adverse weather or other reasons beyond our control cause your visit to be cancelled at short notice).
  • Data (names/phone numbers) collated by HES may be shared with partners collaborating with us to facilitate access to the tower. It will be used for that purpose only.
